Latitude: N 5217.98 Longitude: W 00228.22
VOR information: HON 113.65 269 30 BCN 117.45 045 45.3

Located 12 nautical miles North West of Worcester, and 5 nautical miles East South East of Tenbury Wells. The airstrip is atop a plateau elevated at 645 ft AMSL on the Western side of the Teme Valley. This provides the visitor with extensive panoramic views that on a clear day allows visibility across seven counties! To the North of the site, about six miles away lie the hills known as Titterstone Clee and Brown Clee. On good days the Wrekin is clearly seen at a distance of forty miles. To the South, the Malvern Hills provide another splendid and picturesque backdrop.

Essentially, Hanley is a well run and maintained farm airstrip with two grass runways. The runways are orientated at 05 and 23 and each measure 600 metres long by 22 metres wide. It is IMPORTANT TO NOTE that runway 23 has a threshold displacement of 100 metres due to an 18% upslope. The end of the displacement is marked by a pair of chalk chevrons. Pilots are also WARNED that final approach to runway 23 can produce wind-sheer and turbulence in unusual conditions encountered when strong Southerly winds prevail. The airstrip is unlicensed and does not operate after dark. It is also non radio.

STRICTLY by PPR, considerate visiting pilots are welcome at their own risk. Aircraft third party insurance liability is COMPLETELY MANDATORY for the sake of all parties involved. Circuits are at 800 ft aal, being generally left hand for both runways, but can be variable, clear details will be issued with the telephone brief. Please avoid over-flying local houses. Maintain an imaginary extended runway centreline on approach/departure to assist neighbours by minimising noise. In short, keep straight with the centre of the runways!

Individual landings are charged at £7.50 to help with airstrip costs. For multiple landings the charge is reduced pro-rata. To maximise the usefulness of the airstrip to aviation, some organised fly-ins may take place. Free landings will be on offer from time to time through vouchers printed in Pilot Magazine. When any event has been organised the website will include details in an update on the Home page.
